New knee blow for luckless veteran Giants mid – AFL
Callan Ward to miss at least a month with latest injury suffered against Port Adelaide

FORMER Greater Western Sydney co-captain Callan Ward will miss at least a month after injuring his knee in the round six loss to Port Adelaide.
PHIL’S FAITH IN COGS ’17 other clubs would pick him in two seconds’
Ward, who has played four games since returning from a ruptured ACL in his left knee, played out the game but scans on Monday revealed damage to the lateral collateral ligament in his right ‘good’ knee.
“We expect he’ll probably miss four to six weeks depending on how quickly he settles down but thankfully no need for surgery,” GWS head of medical Cullan Ball told the club’s website on Tuesday.
“We saw him this morning and he was in really good spirits and ready to crack in to his rehab.”

Ward’s absence through injury opens the door for reigning club champion Tim Taranto (shoulder), who is likely to return to the senior team after proving his fitness in a scratch match against Hawthorn last weekend.
Tough forward Daniel Lloyd will be assessed ahead of this Saturday’s clash with Brisbane after suffering delayed concussion symptoms following a collision with teammate Jeremy Cameron against the Power.

“The doc examined him and he passed his pitch-side concussion assessment and was cleared to come back and play.
“Sometimes they can develop some delayed symptoms, which he did, and at that point he was re-tested and failed his concussion test and had to sit the rest of the game out.
“He’s actually come up pretty well early in the week and was able to get through a bike today.
“If everything goes well, he has just enough time to be ready for the game this weekend.”
