White swan in UK left with black feathers after swimming in ‘contaminated’ pond

A white swan has reportedly been stained black by printer ink while swimming in a UK pond.

“This poor mute swan came into the centre over the weekend, contaminated from head to tail,” staff at the West Hatch Wildlife RSPCA centre wrote on Facebook.

“Staff are busy with the job of washing the substance off right now.”

The BBC reported that the swan was seen trying to clean itself in a pond in Wiltshire, before being rescued and taken to be cleaned by volunteers over the weekend.
