Brisbane set for wet weekend before temperatures rise next week

“We can get really wet days that amount to almost nothing in terms of rainfall totals, or we can have a sunny day with a 30-minute storm that gives us 80 millimetres,” Mr Regano said.
“These showers that are coming through are generally compact and fast-moving, so there is not much of a chance for rainfall to accumulate in areas.
“Normally we get showers on the coastal fringes and Brisbane misses out, but we now have south-easterly winds in the Tasman Sea, a little offshore trough and colder air sitting high in the atmosphere, so that is pushing the rain inland. It’s reaching as far as the eastern Darling Downs.
