COVID virus fragments found more than 100 times in Qld wastewater

On Monday, 35 Logan suburbs were put on alert after fragments of SARS-CoV-2 were detected in the Loganholme sewage catchment, prompting Chief Health Officer Jeannette Young to urge anyone in the area with symptoms to get tested immediately.

More recent data published online by Queensland Health reveals virus fragments were detected at the Loganholme site on the weeks beginning February 1 and 8.

“It is very important people with symptoms come forward right away and get tested – now more than ever – with the new cases we are seeing in other states and the amount of interstate travel that we’ve seen over the past while,” Dr Young said.
