Ross River virus infections reach record levels in NSW

Three months ago Graeme Stuart was playing golf, paddling a dragon boat and loving life as a grey nomad.

Now, even simple tasks are sometimes beyond him.

“Right now I’d struggle to get in or out of a boat, let alone hold a paddle,” he said.

“It troubles me if I have to open a door that’s got a circular doorknob because I can’t get a grip on the thing.”

On Christmas Eve, the 68-year-old from Ocean Shores on the New South Wales far north coast was diagnosed with Ross River virus.
