Busy Queensland cops forced to handle some crimes over the phone

“When I travel the state, it was quite obvious the demand was quite high and the organisation was finding it very, very difficult to cope with, so we had to be upfront with ourselves and find out what the issues were,” she said.
“Some of our commands have been realigned to better support through the frontline in the regions. I think we’re in an exciting place for the future, we’re more agile and flexible.”
Assistant Commissioner Cameron Harsley said calls for help previously were assigned a priority code from 1 to 4. The four urgency codes have been reviewed and the service has introduced a code 5.
