WA nurses dont want to see crowds at this weekends AFL derby and are calling for an urgent rethink of the 30,000 fan capacity at Optus Stadium.
In a poll of almost 2000 nurses, 94 per cent of respondents opposed the mass gathering deeming the event “too risky” following virus outbreaks in Victoria and NSW.
Speaking to The West Live host Jenna Clarke from 8.45am, Australian Nursing Federation Secretary Mark Olson will discuss the overwhelming vote against the eased restrictions.
Their push comes just days ahead of the Collingwood and Geelong clash on Thursday evening at Optus Stadium, as part of their three-week block of matches in the new Perth hub.
Clarke will also delve into claims by Australia Medical Association State president Andrew Miller that WA’s ten sex assault doctors have been “targeted” for a pay cut and denied the title of “specialist”.
Speaking exclusively to The West Live, Dr Miller will speak on behalf of the women and stress why the medical professionals are critical for rape victims.
Also on the show, following protests at Northam’s Yongah Hill Detention Centre over overcrowding and unsafe COVID conditions, Clarke will speak to a detainee about why some former criminals actually want to be deported overseas instead of staying in Australia.
