The 2021 MG ZST has been announced for Australia, adding a more powerful engine, advanced safety tech, and more features to its small SUV offering.
While full details have not yet been revealed, the ZST will come in two variants offering 120kW from a 1.3-litre turbocharged petrol engine – a 42 per cent bump in power over the current ZS models (available with a choice of an 82kW turbo 1.0-litre three-cylinder, and an 84kW non-turbo 1.5-litre four-cylinder).
Joining the current line-up – the MG3 hatch, ZS small SUV, and HS medium SUV – the ZST offers buyers a premium interior, added tech, and a panoramic sunroof.
Buyers will also benefit from MG Pilot, a safety package of driver aids comprising speed assist, adaptive cruise control with traffic jam intelligence, forward collision warning, rear cross-traffic alert, blind-spot monitoring, lane-change assist, and 360-degree cameras.
Interior appointments are also an improvement over the current ZS, with a 10.1-inch infotainment touch screen system (compared with the ZS’s 8-inch unit), a digital driver dashboard, and what MG claims is a higher level of interior fit and finish.
An updated, sharper exterior design with daytime running lights and LED headlights completes the look.
As with all MG models, the ZST also comes with a 7-year unlimited kilometre warranty and roadside assist.
More details on the MG ZST are expected in August, with models available to buy in showrooms from the third quarter of 2020.
