NSW records longest streak without coronavirus community transmission since pandemic began

NSW has recorded 28 consecutive days of no locally acquired COVID-19 cases — the longest stretch with no community transmission since the pandemic began.
Key points:
- The previous longest stretch without community transmission was 26 days
- NSW Health said the milestone was “pleasing” but warned there were still cases in hotel quarantine
- Victoria, which recorded 28 days without community transmission in November, is again in lockdown
Two cases were recorded in hotel quarantine in the past 24 hours.
And 16,302 people were tested in the 24 hours to 8:00pm last night.
The previous longest stretch without local cases was 26 days, when no cases were diagnosed in the reporting period between 8:00pm on November 6 and 8:00pm on December 2.
