Town gets a month’s rain in one day as wet week predicted for southeast
The rain will be welcome in the drought-declared region, which isn’t expected to see another downpour this week as the weather system moves out to sea.
“There is a trough moving through Queensland. One end of it is anchored out towards Mt Isa, but the southern part … was tracking towards the coast overnight,” Ms Hoff said.
Southeast Queensland didn’t see significant rainfall as a result of the trough, with the heaviest falls – up to 10mm – in parts of Logan.
However Ms Hoff said that while the rain had eased on Sunday afternoon and was expected to hold off on Monday, Brisbane and the rest of southeast Queensland could expect a grey week ahead.
