Trump impeachment trial day four: Former president’s defence lawyers plan to use a fourth of their allotted argument time
Here’s what’s left in this trial
1. Trump’s defence team will present their case.
Key note: US media is widely reporting that the team plans to use only 3-4 hours of the 16 allotted to them, a sign they’re certain that the Republican senators are staying united in their support of the former President.
2. The Senators then have an opportunity to submit questions in writing.
There’s four hours allotted for this, but there’s a good chance Senators choose not to use the full amount of time. Most of them already have their minds made up.
3. Then the House impeachment managers can request to call witnesses, which the Senate would vote on.
