Fourth bat with deadly Lyssavirus found in Qld, this time on Gold Coast
An unwell bat found on the Gold Coast last week and taken in by wildlife carers has tested positive to Lyssavirus, which is potentially deadly to humans.
It was the fourth bat found in Queensland to have tested positive to Australian Bat Lyssavirus since December. All four have since died or been euthanised.

The latest bat, a red flying fox, was found on February 3 and removed from Albert Park in the Gold Coast suburb of Broadbeach.
Gold Coast public health physician Dr Vicki Slinko urged anyone who may have been in contact with the diseased bat to seek medical assistance.
