Microsoft urges the US to ‘copy’ Australia’s media code – The Australian Financial Review
Microsoft president Brad Smith has urged the US government to follow Australia’s lead and regulate Google and Facebook.
Microsofts public backing of Australias news media code puts the software giant at odds with a powerful coalition of American government, business and tech organisations which attacked the legislation, claiming it discriminates against Silicon Valley technology giants and breaches the Australia-US Free Trade Agreement.
Mr Smith described Australias proposed legislation as innovative, saying the ideas are straightforward.
