Queensland declares Melbourne a hotspot after Holiday Inn cluster grows, Victoria to enter five-day lockdown
Queensland has declared Greater Melbourne a hotspot after 13 cases were linked to the Holiday Inn at Melbourne airport, with hundreds of people considered close contacts.
From 1:00am Saturday the Queensland border will be closed to 36 local government areas for a period of 14 days.
Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has today announced a five-day lockdown in response to the growing cluster.
The airport’s cafe and terminal four have been declared exposure sites, sparking huge contact tracing efforts in Queensland.
Queensland’s Deputy Premier Steven Miles said 1,500 people in Queensland who had travelled through terminal four of Melbourne airport would need to go into 14 days quarantine.
