Bitter legal row over controversial Qld mine
The Oakey Coal Action Alliance (OCAA) has been locked in a legal battle for years over the planned expansion of the New Acland coal mine, more than 180km west of Brisbane, but the stoush is back to square one.New Acland Coal, a subsidiary of miner New Hope Group, has sought approval for the project since 2007 but it has faced fierce opposition from the Oakey-based group.The OCAA claims the mine will seriously impact the region’s groundwater and prime agricultural land.
