Stay with me. Heres what happened.
A 25-year-old woman had been complaining of a sore throat for five days after eating sashimi.
She eventually went to the hospital where doctors quickly discovered the cause.
While looking in her mouth they found a small black… moving, yes moving, object at the back of her throat.
The wriggling creature was Pseudoterranova azarasi, a roundworm that can infect humans who eat raw fish, which includes sushi and sashimi.
This concerning medical case was published in the American Journal of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene.
