The world No.12 awkwardly scolded the crowd when they laughed off Bernard Tomic’s Australian Open hopes.
Denis Shapovalov laughed and awkwardly scolded fans at the Australian Open after a telling response to his praise for second-round opponent Bernard Tomic.
Tomic earned his first win at his home grand slam since 2017 when Japans Yuichi Sugita retired hurt after 86 minutes on Monday afternoon.
In contrast, it was nearly 1am when Shapovalov outlasted Italys Jannik Sinner in a five-set thriller that spanned almost four hours.
The Canadian world No.12 was in no doubt that Tomic would be the fresher man…
