The man who grabbed all the headlines at the Super Bowl, almost inevitably, was Tom Brady.
But for all his greatness (and a fifth Most Valuable Player award), and the tactical genius of head coach Bruce Arians, NFL tradition dictates a different person raises the trophy first: the owners.
Its a uniquely American phenomenon, one that speaks to the way owners are glorified as near-celebrities in US sporting culture.
On Monday, it was Joel Glazer who first hoisted the trophy, while a veritable horde of Glazer family members celebrated on the stage behind him.
