Spike in vehicle break-ins, Coolum

Coolum Police are reminding residents to ensure their vehicles and property are secured.

Following a recent spate of vehicle break-ins in the Coolum Division last week, Officer in Charge of Coolum Police, Senior Sergeant Hardy Wirth, was encouraging residents to be vigilant with their property security.

“It’s critical people ensure they lock their vehicles and secure their premises,” he said.

“Some of these sneak offences are occurring because property has been left outside, unlocked or unsecured.

“It’s important residents help us prevent these types of crimes by locking their vehicles, in their garage where possible, removing any valuables and/or remotes and target hardening their property.”
