Shiel appeal: Bombers to challenge two-match ban – AFL

ESSENDON will challenge Dylan Shiel’s two-week ban for his high bump on North Melbourne’s Curtis Taylor at the AFL Tribunal on Tuesday night. 
Shiel’s bump in Essendon’s win on Saturday night was graded as careless conduct, high contact and high impact.

Taylor returned to the field following the incident and was cleared of any damage after an MRI scan on Monday to assess a potential facial fracture. 
Should the bump be downgraded from high to medium impact, Shiel will escape with a one-match ban.  
Essendon faces the Western Bulldogs at Metricon Stadium this Friday night.
It is set to be a bumper evening at the Tribunal on Tuesday as Ben Long’s case for his bump on Fremantle’s Sean Darcy is also heard. 
Long was set straight to the Tribunal for the hit that left Darcy concussed and was graded careless conduct, high contact and severe impact. 
Both cases will sit over video teleconference given the Saints and Bombers are both currently based in Queensland. 
Match Review Officer Michael Christian will also have a busy Monday reviewing incidents from Sunday’s matches including high bumps from Port Adelaide’s Brad Ebert and Richmond’s Marlion Pickett. 
Findings will be released later on Monday.
