West Australian Premier Mark McGowan has labelled a series of suspicious fires in the state’s south-west overnight a “disgusting, disgraceful act” if confirmed to be deliberately lit.

Six fires were reported near Yallingup and Injidup at about 6:30pm on Saturday, sparking two emergency warnings for nearby communities, with authorities concerned homes could be threatened within hours.
Both emergency warnings were downgraded to an advice level by midnight, as rainfall helped firefighters bring the blazes under control.
