Australia’s Ash Barty has claimed the Yarra valley Classic in an impressive, straight sets (7-6 6-4) win over Garbine Muguruza.
The win marks the first WTA tour win for Barty in 2021 and will form a strong base to launch her pursuit for an Australian Open crown.
While Barty closed out the match in style, it wasn’t all smooth sailing in the first set when she dropped two break points and had to scrap tooth and nail to wrestle her way back into the match.
