Heavy rain keeps SES busy in Tasmania’s north-west, flood warnings downgraded

Rain is easing across Tasmania after a deluge hit the state’s north, flooding houses and cutting power.
Key points:
- The SES received more than 50 calls for help after heavy rain in the north-west
- Houses were inundated in the north but most damage was minor
- Rain is easing but water is still coming through river systems and could cause flooding
Rainfall totals were the highest for five years in some areas but the impact was not as great as had been anticipated.
There were no reports of major damage but the State Emergency Service (SES) received more than 50 call-outs, mainly to individual houses in the north-west.
Nearly 2,500 properties were without power overnight but most areas were restored by mid-morning.
