Victoria records zero coronavirus infections as investigations continue into quarantine case

It will be some time before Victoria is in “safe territory”, the state’s Chief Health Officer has warned, but a second day in a row without a locally acquired coronavirus case has been labelled “very encouraging” news.
Key points:
- Minister Lisa Neville says she does not believe ventilation is the issue, but no stone is being left unturned
- There were no new cases detected from 23,227 test results processed
- All 17 of the worker’s primary close contacts have tested negative
There were no new COVID-19 infections detected in the community or in hotel quarantine on Friday, from 23,227 results processed.
The community has been on alert after a man working at an Australian Open quarantine hotel contracted the more contagious UK strain of the virus.
