In the NT community of Wadeye, a new superhero joins the fight against coronavirus

In the remote Northern Territory community of Wadeye, 400 kilometres south-west of Darwin, there is a new superhero in town.
Key points:
- ‘Captain Sanitiser’ is the creation of two filmmakers in Wadeye
- They’re using the character to spread messages about COVID safety
- Now, a local corporation is helping them tackle other issues head-on
Captain Sanitiser has been fighting the coronavirus while spreading COVID-safety messages in local language as well as English.
The superhero is the creation of local filmmaker Dallas Mugarra and producer Jerry Bitting.
The idea came to Mr Mugarra in the early days of the pandemic, when lockdowns were first starting to sweep across the country.
