British national, Victorian woman went into ‘unsafe’ surf for Gold Coast night swim

A man missing, feared dead, after going for a night swim at a Gold Coast beach is a British national who had been working in a gym.

Jake Jacobs, 32, and a 29-year-old woman from Victoria went swimming at the “unsafe” Kurrawa Beach in Broadbeach about 9.20pm on Thursday night.

The woman was found at water’s edge later in the night but she could not be revived.

Jacobs is yet to be found but police are treating the search as a recovery mission for his body.
