Apple is using its monopoly to overcharge for apps, ACCC told – The Australian Financial Review
Epic Games has taken its dispute with Apple directly to the regulator.
While Google allows third parties to develop app stores that compete with Googles own Play Store on Android devices, Apple prohibits anyone other than itself from selling apps, in-game purchases or services on iPhones and iPads. It also prevents the use of any payments platforms other than its own.
Software developers also complain that Apple routinely blocks apps from appearing on the store, for reasons that are opaque but which serve to protect Apples own versions of those same apps.
