BOM warning for severe weather in central, northern Victoria with heavy rain, high winds, storms forecast

Heavy rain, strong winds and possible flash flooding are expected across Victoria today, with rainfall of up to 40 millimetres in the Melbourne area and higher totals in the north-east.

An approaching low pressure system with a link to tropical moisture is responsible for the bad weather which could cause flooding in the north of the state.
After heavy rain last week, which brought up to a month of rainfall in a few hours in some locations, the catchments are wet and there are concerns about riverine flooding.
