This is just your average geeky-science-fiction-dystopian-fantasy-time-shifting romance. Owen Wilson and Salma Hayek occupy several levels of reality, or none, depending on how you read writer/director Mike Cahills imagination. However, none of the levels is terribly believable. Thats the problem with questioning reality: it can leave the audience, not just the characters, with nothing firm underfoot.
