‘That s**tstorm claims lives’: NRL’s first openly gay player slams Folau return – Fox Sports
Ian Roberts has slammed the St George Illawarra Dragons for entertaining the idea of signing Israel Folau.
Roberts, a former front-rower for the Rabbitohs, Sea Eagles, Cowboys, came out as gay in 1995. He was the first professional rugby league footballer in the world to do so. The 55-year-old opened up to The Sydney Morning Herald following the bombshell news that the Dragons had lodged an appeal with the NRL in a bid to sign Folau.
It didnt take long for the Folau news to send shockwaves throughout the rugby league community.
