Not an ideal situation for the Demons.
Melbourne recruit Ben Brown is set to meet a specialist today as he deals with persistent swelling in his left knee.
The forward missed the back half of last season with North Melbourne because of knee issues which have seemingly returned during his first pre-season with the Demons.
Brown, 28, performed well in an intra-club match recently but will now undergo precautionary scans in an attempt to resolve the problem just six weeks out from the new season.
