McDonald sent to hospital but could still play next week – The Age
Melbourne’s Tom McDonald remains in the frame to take on Hawthorn at Giants Stadium next Sunday despite being sent to hospital with a scratched eyeball on Saturday night.

Patton was injured early in the Hawks’ loss to Collingwood at Giants Stadium on Friday night.
With the potential condensing of the AFL fixture, Patton could end up missing more than four matches.

The No.1 draft pick from 2011 has endured a terrible run with injuries during his career, tearing his ACL on three separate occasions during his time with Greater Western Sydney.
“Obviously this news is really disappointing for Jon and the club,” Hawks football chief Graham Wright said on the club’s website.
“His frustration and emotion was evident on Friday night so you can see how much this means to him.
“The positive news is that we should see Jon back on the park in a month and he’ll undertake his recovery with the support of the club, as we continue in the hub environment.
“We’re confident that he will do all the right things in his recovery to ensure we see him back out there as soon as possible.”
