T-shirt logo mix-up raises tensions between China and Canada

An apparent mix-up between the name of a Chinese city and a logo for a US hip hop group has sparked a new feud between Beijing and Canada.

China says it has lodged a formal complaint with Canada over T-shirts ordered by one of its Beijing embassy staff that allegedly mock China’s response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Foreign Ministry spokesperson Wang Wenbin told reporters on Tuesday Beijing had called on Canada to “thoroughly investigate the incident and give China a clear explanation”.
