Man ‘bites seagull’ after bird tries to steal McDonald’s meal – Yahoo News Australia

A man has been detained by police after he sunk his teeth into a bird which tried to eat his McDonalds meal.
Officers attached to the Charles Cross neighbourhood policing team witnessed a 26-year-old man allegedly attack the seagull in the UK.
He sunk his teeth into it before throwing it to the floor, a spokesperson told Plymouth Live.
Officers had seen the incident and immediately went over and detained and took details from him.

According to Cornwell Live, the man told police he was under the influence of drugs when they were getting his details and the police decided to take the man to hospital for treatment.
Yesterday we detained a male who attacked and injured a seagull in the city centre, Charles Cross Police Team wrote on Twitter.
Love them or loathe them, seagulls are protected under the Wildlife & Countryside Act 1981. The bird flew away before we could check it’s welfare.
The man, who was reportedly a local, allegedly attacked the seagull after it tried to get some of his McDonalds.
Police are appealing for witnesses to come forward with any information about the alleged attack and according to Plymouth Live, it is illegal to injure or kill wild birds.
If found guilty, perpetrators could face six months in prison or cop a $9000 fine.

While seagulls can be particularly feisty when it comes to food, so can humans.
Last year in the UK, a man smashed a seagull against a wall and killed it for stealing his chips.
The man was found guilty and the act was deemed unthinkable and despicable by the RSPCA.
This was deliberate cruelty, borne from the fact that this man cared more for his chips than what his actions did to the poor gull, RSPCA inspector Simon Evans said of the incident.
Simply, the man showed blatant disregard for an animal because he was annoyed about his chips.
