A tropical low currently tracking across the Kimberley towards the Pilbara coast is now likely to become a tropical cyclone on Monday, according to the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM).

The storm, which locals said produced one of the first substantial wet season events in the last three years, had been expected to cross the coast and “quickly intensify” on Sunday, but that forecast has now been delayed.
