In Beats, one of the best movies you probably didn’t see last year, two Scottish teenagers are desperate to attend their first rave. Even if you’ve done your fair share of dancing to electronic tunes, it was easy to understand how they felt in 2020. With Brisbane’s event scene still finding its way back to normal, that feeling remains the same now.
South Brisbane’s Gallery of Modern Art has a big-screen option, however, thanks to a nicely curated lineup of movies about rave culture. The free program is called Rave, too, and it’s filled with bangers of the cinematic kind.
