Wind back the clock. Back, back, back.
With a creak, the old wooden door opens.
You hear the tinkle of the bell.
You step inside, excitedly clutching your sixpenny coin.
Gazing at the magical display of
Then, “two for a penny licorice blocks please, and 6 milk bottles, and, and, and one of those licorice straps”.
Turning back toward the door, little did you realise that one day, a day long, long away, you would in some way look back with dreamy eyes.
Eyes that, in a way, yearn for those innocent and simpler times.
