Annastacia Palaszczuk MP has welcomed new citizens in Townsville to mark Australia Day.

The Premier says it’s a “very special day” for those lucky enough to become naturalised, with her own family cherishing the value of gaining citizenship.

“I remember that when my grandparents became citizens all those years ago, they actually proudly had that Australian citizenship certificate placed in their pride of place in their house, because it symbolised so much to them to be Australian.”
