Mexico’s President Andrés Manuel López Obrador tests positive for COVID-19
Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador has contracted COVID-19, but he says his symptoms are mild.

- Mr López Obrador has resisted locking down the economy due to the impact on Mexicans who live day to day
- He joins a growing list of world leaders who have contracted the virus
Mr López Obrador, who has been criticised for his handling of the pandemic in Mexico, said on his official Twitter account that he was undergoing medical treatment.
“I regret to inform you that I am infected with COVID-19,” he tweeted.
“The symptoms are mild but I am already under medical treatment. As always, I am optimistic. We will all move forward.”
