Police use capsicum spray to break up a South Stradbroke Island festival brawl

Police on the island then called for back-up, so extra officers were brought from the mainland on a Volunteer Marine Rescue boat.
After the fight, a moored vessel suffered minor damage when a festival patron bumped a control lever, causing the boat to scrape against a jetty.
This was followed by a delay in commercial vessels arriving to take festival-goers back to the mainland, further agitating the crowd.
No charges or fines arose from the incidents, but police continue to investigate potential liquor licensing and COVID breaches.
