Cricket matches are won and lost on the actions and reactions of players, pitches and the ball. It is one thing for some commentators to see every decision as wrong, every stroke misplaced and every fielding position askew. This is a nonsense, of course, yet the form and tactics of the Australian team are rightly questioned. Fielding positions seemed both prescriptive and reactive in Sydney and Brisbane.
