The lessons for Australia are structural and cultural, from the base of the pyramid to its apex. While Australia can never match the size of Indias population (nor Englands, nor South Africas, nor Pakistans), nor muster Indias bulk financial grunt, it has to be more creative in compensating.
If population were distilled into onfield success, India would not have been beaten since 1948. At the elite level, it is still only 11 against 11, and Australia has a resource-rich high-performance culture….
