Alexei Navalny spokeswoman Kira Yarmysh jailed before planned protests in Russia
A Russian court has jailed the spokeswoman of Kremlin critic Alexei Navalny for nine days in a bid to ensure nationwide protests against the Russian opposition leader do not go ahead.

The rally, which authorities have said is illegal, was planned for Saturday (local time) to call for Mr Navalny’s release from jail.
Kira Yarmysh is one of several allies of Mr Navalny who have been detained by police. She confirmed her imprisonment via Twitter.
