Mexican authorities warn families against using makeshift oxygen devices amid soaring COVID numbers

Mexican authorities have issued public warnings against people using home-made oxygen concentrators as coronavirus numbers climbed to new records.

Another 22,339 new infections were confirmed on Thursday local time by the health ministry, bringing the total number to 1,711,283 infections.
Fatalities have also continued to climb, with the country’s death toll reaching the fourth-highest in the world. The recent surge in infections has swamped hospitals.
