Late garbage truck blamed for PPE mess near Australian Open COVID-19 quarantine hotel

Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews has contradicted his Police Minister’s explanation as to how discarded protective gear ended up as litter on a footpath near one of the Australian Open quarantine hotels.

Mr Andrews has apologised to Melbourne residents living next door to the View hotel on St Kilda Road, and said overflowing PPE bins were due to a garbage truck turning up late for a scheduled collection.
