Sundar’s father had played cricket but his family was unable to afford all the equipment. A neighbour, a former army officer called PD Washington, stepped in to help out.
“Washington was extremely fond of cricket and would come to watch us play at the Marina ground. He took a liking for my game,” Sundar senior told The Hindu.
