Ipswich council in Queensland wins right to recruit for female-only training roles

A training program with a Queensland council providing an opportunity to drive a garbage truck will only be available to women.
Ipswich City Council says it has won an exemption from the Queensland Industrial Relations Commission (QIRC) to advertise for the gender-specific opportunity.
The council was motivated by the lack of women in similar roles, with just one female among its 50 full-time waste truck drivers.
