Could coronavirus become the next common cold?
The global death toll approaches two million, but researchers suggest that a speedy vaccination rollout could reduce the severity of COVID infection to that of an annoying, childhood cold. The virus that causes COVID-19 could become no more of a threat than the common cold, new research suggests.
It could even circulate seasonally, though it depends heavily on the pace at which vaccines can be rolled out so people can develop immunity.
