‘Elderly’ man in critical condition after near-drowning off Redlands coast

An “elderly” man has been rushed to hospital in a critical condition after a near-drowning in open water off Wellington Point, east of Brisbane, on Thursday.
Paramedics, including the specialist high acuity response unit, were called to Reserve Esplanade about 1pm after the man was “pulled from the water”.

The patient, described by a Queensland Ambulance Service spokeswoman as “an elderly male” was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital about 2pm.
