Woolloongabba (Woolloon-capemm-ba) was the name the Indigenous People gave to a string of curved waterholes that, when there was heavy rain, formed a swirling creek that once ran through the area. “Woolloon” meaning whirlpool, “capemm” meaning water and “ba” being a suffix denoting place or there.
